JSG Edgework Clinic will improve a goaltenders’ quickness and crease awareness in order to be Squared, Prepared, and On-Time allowing a goaltender to use proper save techniques. We will be incorporating new edgework techniques for increased balance and blade awareness allowing the goaltender to “trust their edges”.

    Each station will be supervised by a coach.  Goalies will be grouped according to age and skill. (2018-2008)

    Janosz Goaltending is combining with Zarbo Hockey for 11 (1.5 hour skill sessions). A Janosz Goaltending Senior Level Instructor will supervise each clinic.  These clinics will focus on edgework, fundamental save skills, and game situations. There will also be an emphasis on puck tracking, rebound control, post play, and knowing how and when to use the correct save selection.  There will be a maximum of 4 goalies on the ice per session.   

    *NEW for 2026– Video Analysis for $25 for practice analysis and $100 for game analysis. The coaches will observe and provide feedback during the games.

    Goalie School 101

    This camp is designed for the first or second year goaltender that is looking to learn the basic fundamentals of the position.  The following areas will be taught and drilled: Positioning, angles, goaltender specific skating and save skills, game situations, and puck tracking.  Goaltenders must have full ice hockey goalie equipment and have adequate skating skills.  Classroom sessions will include video analysis of each goaltender as well as NHL video teaching sessions. There will be a ratio of 1 instructor per 2-3 goalies.

    “COACHES EYE” VIDEO ANALYSIS (optional)

    Goaltenders’ will be filmed every day of camp.  We will take this video and add voiceover and drawing tools to provide feedback using “coaches eye” technology.  The critiqued video will then be emailed back to you each day.  Strengths and weaknesses will be identified while we provide tips on how to become a better goaltender.

    With (2) ice sessions per day coupled with classroom instruction; professional video technique analysis and off – ice training sessions, this camp is designed to have you mentally & physically prepared for the up & coming season.

    Classroom Sessions

    Classroom sessions will improve the mental and emotional part of each goaltender’s game.  Sessions include: NHL game situation and goalie analysis, game management strategies, mental visualization techniques, and nutritional/training needs.  There will also be discussions on the best avenues to advance through the hockey ranks.

    Edgework and Fundamental Save Session (AM)

    Proper repetition will perfect technique to improve quickness and efficiency to build a highly mobile and fundamentally sound goaltender. This session will cover goalie specific movements as well as fundamental and advanced save techniques.

    The following skills will be covered: movement; puck tracking; all of the variations of the butterfly and butterfly slide; moving while down, post seals, leans, rebound control, shifts, and handling the puck.

    Several pieces of on-ice training equipment will be used: Mirrors, High Shot Screen Boards, Deflection Boards, tracking glasses; and mini, colored, and white pucks.

    Game Situation Session  (PM)

    This clinic will cover common situations that a goaltender will face in a game.   The following situations will be covered: rush plays, pass outs, plays around the net; bad angle shots, point/screen shots, lateral feeds, and breakaways. Rebound control will be emphasized for all situations. Shooters will shoot according to age and skill.

    Video Technique Analysis

    Students will learn how to refine the physical part of their game by reviewing their own video with the JSG coaching staff.

    Off-Ice Conditioning 

    Designed to strengthen your physical and mental attributes. The latest

    age appropriate off-ice training methods will be used with an emphasis on goaltender specific training.  The following areas will be covered; dynamic warm-up, flexibility, core and leg strength, hand eye coordination; quick feet and agility drills.

    “COACHES EYE” VIDEO ANALYSIS (optional)

    Goaltenders’ will be filmed every day of camp.  We will take this video and add voiceover and drawing tools to provide feedback using “coaches eye” technology.  The critiqued video will then be emailed back to you each day.  Strengths and weaknesses will be identified while we provide tips on how to become a better goaltender.
